About Me
As a student and athlete, I am motivated by a drive to fulfil my potential. I understand that to achieve this I need to be dedicated and maintain consistent focus. I am passionate about Water Polo and recognise the importance of balancing this with academic discipline. I am a friendly, loyal individual who thrives in a competitive team and training environment. The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic has meant I have needed to develop resilience and increased focus. The restrictions have meant I have needed to adapt to new ways of working both within academically and from a sporting perspective. I am looking forward to the opportunity to challenge myself further in new academic and sporting environments.

INTERVIEW
I love my sport and I enjoy setting goals and working to plans to achieve those goals. I understand the self-discipline and focus required to consistently improve and develop my own performance. Securing places in Age Group Squads above my own has meant I have learned to be optimistic about my prospects but also resilient in the face of disappointment. I strive to learn and develop from the feedback I receive.
I relinquished the opportunity to develop a Rugby Union career as part of the Sale Sharks development programme as I wanted to put all my focus on my first passion, Water Polo.
I’m grateful to have been exposed to the best coaches within the junior system in the UK. This has given me a competitive advantage in respect of my ability to both work within a team and lead it. I enjoy the satisfaction of being part of a close knit and responsible team and the sense of achievement sporting success brings.
I understand that competing at all Sports and particularly my chosen sport, Water Polo, requires commitment and dedication. In a completely new environment for me, I think this team participation will help me build a new group of friends and to understand a new culture. It will help me belong to the University.
I appreciate the Sport is played to a very high level and that I will be required to learn and develop quickly. I know I will need to adapt to new methods and coaching approaches. This will mean I will develop excellent time management skills and maintain the consistent focus required to succeed academically as well as on the sporting field.
I am excited by the opportunity to challenge myself both physically and mentally in a new environment, alongside new teammates, coaches and tutors.
My initial aim is to become a valuable member of the College/University squad and to build my reputation through hard work in training sessions. I should like to progress and in time ensure I am consistently a starting seven player. From there I would hope to take on leadership roles within the team but recognise the development required to obtain this honour.
I am interested in studying Economics or related subjects. This subject has quickly become the favourite of my 3 A level subjects. I enjoy analysing available data to reach conclusions about the strategies and options available. This, to me, is similar to considering options and strategies to adopt in a Water Polo game or tournament. The similarities between analysing your situation, working to your strengths and considering any potential issues require the same thought processes. I would hope to become a respected and dedicated academic student alongside development as an athlete.
