About Me

I have played club hockey since U8 and have been consistently chosen for England Hockey club cup teams. I am a Sports Scholar at Sevenoaks School where I have played high level hockey since Year 7 when I would train and compete with older year groups. In addition to hockey training, I work hard at my fitness and agility. I attend the strength and conditioning sessions which school provides for elite athletes. This has helped me build strength and increase my sprint speeds. I also have been dancing since the age of three, focused mainly on ballet. This has been extremely beneficial to my hockey, giving me enormous strength and control of my body as well as discipline. It also requires me to be very flexible, which has played a huge part in keeping me completely injury free. I could not be more grateful that hockey has been such a huge part of my life. The opportunity to play at a high level with so many amazing players and such great coaching has been a privilege. I love the game and strive to be better.

INTERVIEW

The strength of my stick skills / elimination ability / vision and reading of the game, which have been built through club and school. This has been achieved through my club’s ethos of playing fast European-style hockey combined with indoor training. As a result, my skills are quick, and I have great confidence in tackling and winning the ball. Throughout my hockey career, I have demonstrated long term commitment, a willingness to work hard, a keenness to learn and resilience. This has also been shown in the way I have combined ballet and hockey - a pretty unusual combination which hasn’t been easy and demanded great discipline. I love team sports and have experience of playing with so many different people during my school, club and county hockey career. Finally, I know I respond well under pressure and have performed well in important games.

I want the opportunity to take hockey to the next level. The high standard of play and coaching at US universities would advance my game and I would love the competition atmosphere. I have loved my school and club team experience and want that same intense team environment with a mix of backgrounds at university. The US university experience is unique, and I want to get involved and be part of the community.

From a hockey perspective, I would want to be involved in the game as a key outcome player. By this I mean, not only creating individual goals but feeding other players in different scenarios and forming and completing attacks from our D. From an academic perspective, I value the US university approach which will enable me to explore different subjects. I am clear on what I want to do professionally longer term, but I could take this in a number of directions. I want the chance to investigate these options, within marketing and business.
